Immortal
(Frontiers Records - 2012)

Jim Peterik is the driving force behind Pride Of Lions, but singer Toby Hitchcock is also an important part of the American outfit. Now Pride Of Lions is back with Immortal.

They kick off with the title track and it soon hooks you up, Immortal shows the direction of Peterik / Hitchcock. They slow down a bit for Delusional, a slightly melancholy tune, some might say this one is too cheesy, but remember this is AOR! And this one has a deeper meaning, it's about young people getting prescribed drugs to make them fit in nowadays society. AOR fans will love the new compositions of ex-Survivor Jim Peterik, especially when Toby Hitchcock is singing them. Shine On can't convince me, but it's mainly the musical character it has in the beginning - and it isn't a bad tune, just not my cup of tea... Coin Of The Realm shows Peterik's Survivor past, cool rocker! After Sending My Love, a balladesque tune, they offer Vital Signs which starts slowly but has a rock edge. And with If It Doesn't Kill Me they had me once again. This is AOR the way I like it! And it should please all fans of Survivor - and so should be interesting for many rock music lovers! After the bombastic tune Are You The Same Girl they close this chapter with the rocker Ask Me Yesterday, one of my favorites on Immortal. Don't get me wrong the slower tunes are all well done and they keep the high quality level, it's just a matter of taste.

If you like AOR and hard rock, then this one might be right up your alley... Fans of Jim Peterik's compositions won't be disappointed by Immortal!
