Pride

Pride
(Yesterrock - 2011)

The album was released in 2008 by a small label and limited to 550 copies! Soon sold out it became a collectors item. Now Yesterrock picked it up and make it available to AOR fans again. This time it comes with the original artwork - very 80's - and two newly recorded bonus tracks.
You can read my review of the 2008 release below, there is nothing to add about that part - but about the bonus tracks!
The first bonus track is Heartless Woman, Stefan Karlström's keyboard are prominent, but you also get heavy riffs and a catchy hook.
Valkyria is the other, a bit slower and with a dash melancholy they present this one. Personally I like Valkyria more then Heartless Woman, but it's more a matter of taste. Both songs fit well to the album, guess they didn't made it onto the album as in the 80's due to vinyl the running time was limited.
Thanks to Yesterrock AOR fans can now get the album for a reasonable price, so what are you waiting for?

Pride

Pride
(AOR-FM Records - 2008)

This album is of the Swedish band Pride and the five-some was active in the late 80's and early 90's. During that time they recorded some stuff, released a single, but never really got a chance. Now AOR-FM Records has overdone their songs and finally the songs can be heard by more AOR fans.
As the songs were written / recorded almost 20 years ago you get the authentic 80's AOR sound. They kick off with the tune You're The Only One which was the only single to see the light of day. With a good label and proper promotion the guys could have become quite popular. The song is a bit commercial, but if you like bands like Treat or Bad Habit, then you should dig this one. For the following Dreamer In The Night they speed up and make me think of Skagarack... Or Europe... A powerful ballad is Someone's Calling Your Name, but with some heavy riffs and beautiful keyboard - and on top of it great vocals of Dan Kristiansson and a catchy hook line! Turn It Up is faster and kicks off with keyboard and heavy riffs. Here the Swedish cross the borders to melodic metal - the Scandinavian variety. Especially Good Intuition reminds me of Europe... A real ear catcher! Soon you will sing along and have a good time. The tune is real fun! A dash melancholy has Love Is Hard To Live With, and also anger... But enthralling and somehow beautiful. And so you get all shades of melodic music, not all killers, but no fillers too! So just enjoy this album!
In a nutshell, if you like late 80's / early 90's Scandinavian hard rock / AOR and dig bands like Treat, Europe, Fate and Bad Habit, then you should take the chance and get a copy of this CD, if you ever see it somewhere!
