Actually not that long ago I had Powergod's Bleed Of The Gods on my review shamble. Not the Hagen based band present their latest output Nemesis. The band continued the musical direction they chose with Evilution Pt. 1 & Pt.2 which is obviously if you take a look on the song writing. Highlights on Nemesis are the extremely groovy Got milk? As well as the 11 minute long epic and complex Evilution Part 3. The trio of President Evil try to show the competitors in this genre their place. If the trio can skim off the cream of the genre releases or if they just draw water will the fans decide! My humble self will give 7 points for the 4th release of the Hagen-based local metal heroes and nobody should reproach me sectional pride, coz I live just 15 km far from the metal stronghold Hagen! Just kidding! But what would that mean for this review? And the rating? Not much, right? |

Powergod cover the Gods of power metal! Quiet funny. There days so many albums get released, so... Who needs that kind of a tribute album? The originals are always more intense and no copycats. In general the idea to do a homage to bands like Savage Grace, Agent Steel, Metal Church, Lizzy Borden and others is really good, but... The mentioned bands deserve it. |

In early 1999 the fans heard about Powergod for the first time on RockHard's Unerhört sampler for unsigned bands. The readers of Germans No. 1 metal magzine liked the band and so did some label. Soon the trio signed with Massacre Records and released the debut Evilution Pt. 1. Now the follow-up of the true metallers is in the stores. Do they offer the same like last time? Yes and no, coz with President Evil they do have a new singer. Last year at the Wacken open-air President Evil gave his live debut. He has a darker voice and a larger range, so the songs show a larger variety. Musically they haven't changed.... Called power metal or true metal, both fits... There are mid-tempo songs and speedy tracks like Observatör.. Nothing new at all...... With Esper the Germans did an unusual cover version, they covered a Loudness song. |
