Chasing The Sun

Chasing The Sun
(Mascot Records - 2002)

Many might not know where they heard this name before, but if you take a look at the life of Chris Poland, especially his musical career which shows that the guitarist was involved in some musical milestones. It started not very spectacular with his move from New York together with his friend Gar Samuelsen.
1984 it happened, they joined Megadeth and been part of the band until 1987. While they were in Megadeth they recorded such classic releases like Killing Is My Business... and Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?. Afterwards Chris Poland was working as a solo artist for a while, before he joined Damn The Machine (fantastic band - I saw them live when they supported Dream Theater and had the chance to meet the Poland brothers!) and later Mambo's Brain.
Then Mr. Poland founded OHM with a friend from New York, bassist Roberto Pagliari (he played also on 5 tracks on this CD) and drummer David Eagle, with their jazz rock they turned California up-side-down. The album Chasing The Sun was released in 2001 with 3 bonus tracks in Europe. The US release was in 1999. The 13 (+3) songs show the way of Chris Poland and his progression of playing guitar. The songs were written between 1990 and 1999, the last track is a live track which was recorded with OHM at the legendary Baked Potato.
Mark Poland (drums) and Francis DiCosmo (bass) played on this album as well.
Resume: A CD with sounds very homogenous and offers emotional instrumentals of a decent quality.
