It's quite awhile since we heard last of the Australian metal band Pegazus. Breaking The Chains was their last release and hit the stores back in 1999! Now 3 years later they are back with a new singer. His name is Rob Thompson and no doubt he's as good as his predecessor Danny Cecati. In my opinion he's even better. Musically not that much has changed, but who expected a musical change? Nobody, coz the music is still written by guitarist Johnny Stoj, but this time heavier and faster than in the past. Again Johnny Stoj wrote some metal anthems like the title track The Headless Horseman which has a sing-along chorus and shows the new direction of the quartet from down under. Lyrically the band deals with fantasy themes like in the past, even if Nightstalker fits into every century. Interesting, coz different is the track Look To The Stars, not a typical tune, even if it has all the ingredients.... Listen to it and you know what I mean! A slower number is Spread Your Wings, a mid-tempo track which starts balladesque. Giving a break from the true metal attack. Afterwards they speed up again with Forever Chasing Rainbow. Another outstanding track is the final one.... Ballad Of A Thin Man which is sung by Johnny Stoj on vocals! A heavy rock track in the tradition of Philip Lynott's Thin Lizzy. A good decision to place this one at the end of the CD, coz this is a different genre! A great track!!!
Well done, guys!
