Some keyboard samples open the album before a heavy groove joins in and In Flames singer Anders Fridén adds some hoarse vocals to In Reverse. The chorus is catchy, has clear vocals and soon you'll sing along. Musically the Swedish quartet offers heavy, grooving, danceable electro pop... Or something like that... Influenced by bands like Chum, Helmet, Depeche Mode and The Posies they remind me partly of Paradise Lost at times of Host.
Track #2 In My Mind and Circus (#6) give a better idea about Passenger then the opener In Reverse.
The songs are written by Guardenian guitarist Niclas Engelin while Anders Fridén is responsible for the lyrics which are different, more straight then his lyrics for In Flames.
Fans of In Flames have to be very open-minded to enjoy this hard, danceable groove pop. A very interesting album which has the chance to make it into the charts... Time will tell.
