Opus Atlantica

Opus Atlantica
(Regain Records - 2002)

If you are into power metal, then this is interesting for you! You will also find some hard rock, neo-classical metal and classical / opera influences. Opus Atlantica is another collaboration of Pete Sandberg and bassist Jonas Reingold (Flower Kings / Midnight Sun). The line-up is completed by young guitarist Johan Reinholz (Andromeda, No Exist) and drummer Jaime Salazar (Flower Kings / Midnight Sun).
The track Judas Call is a good example for the bands sound. Musically the Swedish are interesting for fans of Stratovarius, Rhapsody, Angra, Yngwie Malmsteen. The band of mainman Pete Sandberg takes care that their compositions are heavy, melodic, vary and have a catchy chorus line. On Holy Gral which has a touch of Malmsteen. They are using a choir to give the chorus a special touch and to make the song more powerful. Mainly the quartet offers up-tempo tracks, but on Price Of Darkness they slow down and offer an epic anthem which is touching. A powerful ballad which is just beautiful. The song Falling Angel presents the band heavy grooving, again an up-tempo track. On Sleep With The Devil they slow down a little. A mid-tempo rocker with a powerful choir and an unusual beat, but the song grows through the tempi changes.
Resume: A quite good album, hopefully the fans will give them a chance and buy this album, coz they have the potential.
