My Way

My Way
(self-released - 2007)

The band was founded in 2006 in Moscow and had in their short history some line-up changes. They also did some demos before.
They open up slowly with the title track My Way, a melancholic, symphonic tune with slow passages and some mid-tempo heavy parts. The Russian words transport the melancholy... the longing. Singer Alexandra Komarova has a warm timbre and even if her vocals tend a bit into the direction of Within Temptation she has a more powerful rock voice and so its only an element. And so fans who have problems with the soprano voices and / or the operatic vocals should check this one out! Luna Aeterna go their own way and Alexandra can show her full spectrum. With Before The Dawn they present a heavy metal track with some electro sounds, but they don't drift into the electro gothic genre. Alexandra is partly singing a bit higher and I think she's a mezzo soprano. The guitarist Denis Terehov and bassist Rodion Galimzyanov add heavy riffs to the symphonic keyboards and so level heaviness and melody. The track reminds me a bit of Xandria, but somehow Luna Aeterna more interesting for me, even if I don't understand the lyrics or perhaps because of this, it adds something mysterious to it - for non-Russian speakers. The last track of the single is called In Your Arms and has English lyrics. Again the band offers a symphonic heavy metal tune with powerful riffs and melodic keyboard passages. This one is enchanting! The melancholy is in Alexandra's voice and the guitar leads support this feeling. But they also know how to stay away from the cliches.
A very interesting band coming from Moscow and I hope to hear more from them in future!
