This is not a typical gothic album, nor a typical Love Like Blood album. On Chronology Of A Love-Affair Love Like Blood mastermind Gunnar Eysel presents a trip through 20 years of gothic rock / metal. The aim wasn't to make a compilation or to cover the faves.... Gunnar Eysel wanted to present the most important bands in a Love Like Blood sound, but without changing the running time, charm and basic lines.
So they splitted the 2 decades into 4 periods of 5 years each, coz they think that the music scene is changing every 5 years... so they picked songs from Joy Division, Bauhaus, The Mission, Christian Death, Killing Joke, Paradise Lost, Tiamat and Marylin Manson.
To get a more homogenous sound they kinda demetalized the last songs to make them fit into the concept. This project became a challenge and they succeeded. A very interesting album, especially to fans who just got into this kind of music and it may open their eyes for other bands to discover...
