Excess

Excess
(Mystic Production - 2010)

The Polish band Coma started back in 1998, founded by guitarist Dominik Wiczak and drummer Tomasz Stasiak. After completing the line-up the band started working and soon signed with BMG Poland. Through the years they became very successful in their home country, got several awards and their last album got double platinum!
Now the guys try to enter the international market with an English version of their most successful album - Hipertrofia. Plus bonus tracks.
Musically the Coma guys combine elements of the metal and rock, you'll find alternative elements, heavy metallic riffs and catchy vocals. They open up with Excess, a catchy tune with slightly distorted vocals in the beginning, later the clean, expressive vocals of Piotr Rogucki will hook you up. An ear catcher! At Transfusion they slightly remind me of System Of A Down.... This one is a riff-based track with a heavy groove, aggressive parts and a melodic vocal line. The opening riff of Poisonous Plants sounds a bit Rammstein-like, but then they ease off and the song gets atmospheric. Switching back and forth between Tool-ish parts and Rammstein riffing. A sonic roller coaster ride. T.B.T.R. is a slow, emotional tune and shows that their sound ranges from songs like Confusion to T.B.T.R. - and so the album never gets boring. One of my favorites is Struggle, it's the vocals which make this one stick out. Afternoons In The Colour Of Lemon is a balladesque, melancholy rocker. Enchanting. After the long track Silence And Fire the original album ends with Eckhard, another atmospheric rocker. The English version has 2 bonus tracks with the cryptic names F.T.P. and F.T.M.O., the first one is a fast, heavy track which reveals the meaning of the abbreviation when you listen to the gang shouts. Again the quintet offers some twists and turns. The closer is another atmospheric rocker with an intriguing vocal line. Perfectly placed as F.T.M.O. stands for 'feel the music's over'. And so the album ends.
Fans of rock who like atmospheric rock and don't mind some heavy riffs should check out Excess. Even if there some songs which are more metal and a bit twisted, the majority is rock tunes and if you listen carefully you'll find references to the last 2 decades of rock music. Well done!

Feel The Music's Over (single)

Feel The Music's Over (single)
(Mystic Production - 2010)

Polish rockers Coma are very successful in their home country for years and now they want to conquer the rest of the world. With Feel The Music's Over, the single for their upcoming album Excess they try to get some attention. Especially for the US where the album will be released via Armoury Records it's important to have a single as rock radio is still alive in the US. The single offers the radio edit and the album version of Feel The Music's Over.

The radio edit is almost a minute shortened for the radio edit. Musically the rock tune is interesting for fans of alternative rock bands like 3 Doors Down, Stone Sour, Disturbed and Three Days Grace. To get a better idea watch the video!
