I think everybody heard the name Bob Catley before, as the singer of Magnum he was part of the hard rock scene for more than 2 decades! Middle Earth is Catley's third solo album and is based on J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord Of The Rings. The songs are written by Gary Hughes who also produced the album and played keyboards. Bob Catley started to work with Gary Hughes in 1997 and worked with him on all his solo albums. Musically nothing changed, still good hard rock. But musically they had to follow the story line, so this album hasn't the quality of the former releases. The CD needs a few spins to discover the whole charm.
