Therion, Evergrey & My Insanity
- December, 8th 2001 - Hamburg (D), Markthalle -

This was the last day of the tour, actually Therion would play a few more shows in Sweden, but it was the last day for this package. Opener on this tour were the German gothic metallers My Insanity. This was the first time I saw the band and so I can't tell much about them.... They did a decent job, but the audience wasn't very interested... But I think that they made a few fans during this tour and even today, coz some fans asked at the merchandise booth for their CD. Anyway, a good chance for the young band to play live and get more experienced as well as making some fans.
Evergrey live After a break it was time for the Swedish Evergrey. With Solitude * Dominance * Tragedy the band caught the interest of fans first and then the tour with Kamelot & Crimson Glory helped Tom Englund & his mates to get known, now after some line-up changes and with a new album they are back. The conceptual album In Search Of The Truth showed the band stronger and more powerful and so they are live! Songs like The Masterplan, Rulers Of The Mind and Mark Of The Triangle show the new strength of Evergrey. They are still progressive, but always with a certain power. Because of the limited time, just 35 min. they could play, the band concentrates on the new material and the fans loved it! At the end of the set some of the Therion choir and crew came on stage to make jokes with Evergrey. Therion mastermind Christofer Johnsson watched it and it was a lot of fun for the bands, crew and the fans, unfortunately they had to no more time to play Nosferatu then....
Therion live Now everyone was waiting for Therion! After the intro the band started with a track from their latest output Secret Of The Runs which is called Ginnungagap. The newest album wasn't as successful in Germany as Deggial and so Therion played a mixture of songs from last albums, but also older tunes... Obviously the band enjoyed playing live and the chemistry between Christofer Johnsson and his mates was right. The choir was splitted, on one side of the drums Sarah Jezebel Deva with 2 other girls and on the other side former Lions Share fronter Andy Engberg and two other singers made the choir alive. This time mastermind Johnsson just sang a few songs, but gave Andy Engberg the chance to sing some leads. Songs like Riders Of Theli, Enter Vril-Ya, Schwarzalbenheim and Secret Of The Runes made time fly. Fans shouted for Summer Night City which is originally done by the Swedish pop band ABBA sound really heavy in the Therion version and was a kind of counterpart to the orchestral parts. This time not as much fans showed up at the German shows, but the ones who were there liked it and left satisfied, but before it was time to go Therion came back for an encore including To Mega Therion. Another Therion concert were Christofer Johnsson shows what Therion stands for these days and that this is a band and not a solo project. I guess that in 2002 we will hear and see more of the Swedish....

Therion, Voivod & Flowing Tears
- March, 25th 2000 - Hardenberg (NL), Podium -

Almost at the end of the tour the band played at Hardenberg's Podium. Fans came from everywhere in Holland and a few came from Germany to see the Swedish symphonic metal heads and his trashing Canadian pals. An almost sold-out show!!!
Flowing Tears live When the German youngsters Flowing Tears entered the stage just about 200 fans arrived in front of the stage. Due to the fact that the six got a lot of experience playing live at this tour, they soon convinced the first rows and a few fans came to see just these band! Stefanie and her pals played the same set list, but more intense.
After a short break the progressive thrashers from Canada conquered the stage. Voivod opened with Mercury and also played Nuclear War and Astronomy Domine. Therion live For some this was too trashy and they stand in the foyer and to have a drink.
Then it was time for the Swedish! The setlist was the same as in Bochum. No big surprises, a decent set. Only the Dutch audience was more into it and was going crazy from the start. It was interesting to see the difference between the German and the Dutch audience and the enthusiasm of the Dutch kind gave Therion the extra kick. For the performance this show was much better than Bochum, even if musically it was on the same level. A good reason to see them again in Holland next time....

Therion, Voivod & Flowing Tears
- March, 12th 2000 - Bochum (D), Zeche -

At a cold and windy Sunday several hundred metal heads came to Bochum to see Therion and Voivod. Inside the hall quite a few fans waited to see the opening act, even if most of them won't know the band Flowing Tears. Flowing Tears live The six-piece started with Godless a track of their new album Jade. Songs like Sistersun, Swallow and Radio Heroine followed. The guitarists Benjamin and Manfred as well as bassist Fredric always been in motion. It seems that the sextet from Saarbrücken enjoyed the show and felt comfortable on stage. The guys build the perfect playground for singer Stefanie Duchêne. Stefanie looked totally different! When I saw them with The Gathering and My Dying Bride she was dressed in jeans and a tank top, today a long black dress wrapped her. Barefoot she danced on stage and the different dress seems to change her into another person. The melancholic gothic rock seems to be more emotional... Due to the fact that they opened the band played almost new material beside Odium from a former release. A very good and sympathetic band! Voivod live Okay, at the moment you may miss this little thing what makes it special... But I think that's just a matter of time.....
After a break the Canadian trio entered the stage. The trashing three-piece offered a powerful, energetic show. Okay, the stage acting wasn't fascinating, but it ain't easy for 3 guys! Singer and bassist Eric Forrest couldn't move very much, not just because of his job as a singer and bass play, he still suffers from injuries. You remember that Voivod couldn't play in 1998 at Wacken due to a car crash? Luckily they survived it!!!! And now they are back on stage to present their live album Live! Thanks to Century Media who signed them and brought them to Europe! The Franko-Canadian metal weirdoz presented their trash metal which for me is very progressive, for that genre..... And they always have been an excellent live band which they proof again.
Therion live Now it was time for Therion! The band of mastermind, guitarist and singer Christopher Johnsson entered the stage and started with The Wild Hunt. For many it probably was a surprise that Therion brought six backing singers to join them live. Even if some orchestral stuff was sampled, but to bring a whole orchestra on tour is very expensive. But Christopher made the right decision! This was fantastic! A great light show, too. Bassist Johan Niemann was always in motion and also his brother Kristian on guitar did a great job. Songs like The Crowning Of Atlantis or title track Deggial sounded fantastic. The orchestral parts been a little reduced and so the material sounded heavier. During the show I guess many thought about where they have seen two of the backing singers, so... Therion live The female backing singers been lead by Sarah Jezebel Deva who is known by her work with Cradle Of Filth and others. In the second row the male singers. There Andy Engberg was the main man and usually he is the front man of the Swedish Lions Share! At the end they played To Mega Therion and after 2 encores they left at all. Well done! See you in Hardenberg!!!!
