Thrash The City

Thrash The City
(self-released - 2009)

It's been awhile since I hear from Thrash M the last time, now the Polish thrashers are back with an EP called Thrash The City. The 4-track EP offers 3 new tracks and Life Is A Lie off their demo.
The foursome kick off heavily with Bastogne. Crunchy riffs soon get accompanied by melodic vocals, but you can also hear some growls in the background during the chorus. At Bastogne they seem to be influenced a bit by Megadeth... But then they surprise you with a slow, atmospheric part. A fast, guitar-driven tune is Give 'em Hell. Here Lukasz vocals could have been a bit dirtier... more aggressive. Towards the end the ease off a bit, just to speed up again for Life Is A Lie. As this song was on already released on the demo, I won't go into detail here. The last track is the title track Thrash The City, a Bay Area-type of thrasher, but the quartet can surprise you again with twists and turns. A hook line which can easily be sing along makes this one perfect for live shows. Don't stop playing when the song stops dead, after a few seconds they surprise you with a funny acappella part. Cool idea!
Thrash M offers crunchy riffs, but they spice up the thrashy tunes with growls or cool lead parts which aren't typical thrash metal. The vocals are very melodic and perhaps not powerful or thrashy enough for some... Anyway, if you like to get an idea, go to their MySpace and listen to their songs. If you are interested to purchase the EP contact the band via email ( winter-death(at)wp.pl ) for details!

Demo

Demo
(self-released - 2008)

The Polish band Thrash M was founded in 2007 to play old school thrash with a dash of the modern variety. But that's almost everything I can tell you.
The 3-track demo kicks off with Thrash 'em, the song is based on sharp riffs and chorus which can hook you up. The vocals partly sound a bit like MegaDave Mustaine... The youngsters doing good, they know when to fire riffs and when it's time for a solo part. The modern part at this tune is the partly used distorted vocals.
With Life Is A Lie the impression that they are influenced by Megadeth get more solid. But it's a cool riff-based rocker. Even as they have a bit of Megadeth, there are other influences too. Here they work with breaks and mid-paced parts. The last track is called Hated To Death and here Motörhead seems to shine through a little... But it's still thrashy riff-based metal. Perhaps tending a bit to thrash'n'death - as the vocals are deep and raspy, not really growls, but...
The sound is not too well-leveled, but that's no big deal as this can be improved in the next production. It's mainly the drum sound and that the drums are a bit too prominent, but as long as the songs are good, this shouldn't scare you off!
Go and download the tracks at http://thrashm.net/index.php/Muzyka.html ! No risk involved as it's for free! ;)
