Beyond Redemption

It took 9 years and some internal trouble in the band before The Forsaken finally released their fourth album, Beyond Redemption. Whether or not the long break has been useful for the Swedish band is an open question, but on the new album they march on with a dedicated death metal force that is still intact. Most of the songs are standard death metal with strength and signs of high class, and they start briskly the title song Beyond Redemption where the death metal attack are very massive and powerful. Only Hell Remains is sure high class of death metal with a very clean sound and also the quality in the production are visible for the fans. No Dawn Awaits is more of the attacking squad from Landskrona, Sweden with explosive death metal from their hips. But as mentioned a decent high level in the music, but without directly making the biggest of difference with this new album.

Arts Of Desolation

Last year the Swedish released their debut Manifest Of Hate. Good reviews everywhere and a tour in Europe followed the release. Before the band headed into the famous Abyss Studios to record a follow-up bassist Michael Håkansson left the band to put priority on Evergrey. Opening with a mean death trash track called Incubator the band shows the direction this album is heading. The song Cold Flesh Colony is more a thrash song, but has the mean death growls. Another track is reminding me of Morbid Angel, just a little but... Listen to Dethroned and you'll understand. My favorite track is an instrumental one of the Swedish which is called The Second Manifest and starts slowly. The guitar lines are very interesting. Followed by a mean death metal track. Surely on a very high level. Not much to say... This is a must for death metal fans. |

I knew that the first brutal notes of the new The Forsaken album Arts Of Desolation will knock me out. I was right and so I needed a few minutes to get back. The track Incubator is a straight ahead brutal and extreme neck breaker which will send lovers of Scandinavian death metal to heaven... Or if they prefer hell?!?! |

Century Media decided to sign this 5-piece Swedish extreme metal act, as soon as Century Media staff received and checked their 3-track demo entitled Reaper, according to the Century Media site news section updated in 2K. I had my curiosity towards the band since I read this article... After a few months later, finally the veil was taken off, with this debut album Manifest Of Hate released in late January of 2001. From the intro of the 1st track Seers Hatred, The Forsaken express their brutality and show their technical skill. Mainly, massive fast rhythm and riffs seems to be based in the songs. Plus they uses some pattern changes with their complex rhythm and melodic guitar phrases. These points remind me of At The Gates and Eucharist. The vocal has the low-note voice which spread the violent atmosphere in the materials along with the backing play. If you are not satisfied with the melodic death metal bands going towards more melodic metal style as releasing the albums (I personally love such of these bands though), it may be good for you to take a bite at this album. |
