Hail The Horde

Hail The Horde
(Massacre Records - 2010)

The Burning are from Denmark and their debut album was released in 2007. And they made a good first impression with their modern thrash / groove metal. On the follow-up they frittered and so the tracks became bulky. On album no. 3 The Burning were back on track and presented another album with simple song structures and straight-in-your-face tunes. It's a powerful groove monster with a modern sound - and a dash of hardcore -, but also with Entombed elements, a bridging to old school death'n'roll. Hail The Horde has a powerful, dry and clear sound, a punch in the gut. A groove orgy with some blast parts. They are obviously inspired by Pantera, Machine Head, The Haunted and even a bit of Metallica is audible. A powerful groove attack full of anger and adrenalin, but soon you get used to it and the effect is vanishing. Some memorable elements would have done the album good. And that's exactly what the album lacks, for the time being it's fun, but as soon as it's over you have forgot all about it. Anyway, a decent album!

Hail The Horde

Hail The Horde
(Massacre Records - 2010)

Third album for this Danish combo The Burning, and this could be the right time for their explosion because the maturity finally knocked at their door... Right, maturity, because this band has finally found the right mix of their biggest influences like Pantera and Machine Head with an explosive sound and a good track list on this new episode called Hail The Horde. From the first track called Godless we can appreciate how Johnny, Alex, Thue and Tobias want us, the listeners, with our ears bleeding!! Power, fury, breaks and all the lovely elements of thrash are here, and we need it because if the old school (Death Angel, Testament, etc etc) are good enough to do nice albums, the new school must do better!!!
Godless, The Nihilist Life, the title track Hail The Horde are just here to remind to us all that thrash is still alive and no exclusive property of old school bands.
Please give once more a possibility to these guys to show how good they are, The Burning deserve a chance, a big chance to show how powerful they are so open your eyes and your ears to Inverted Cross Syndrome or Turn Or Burn when the accelerator pedal is pressed....you'll be satisfied!!!!
For me a lovely surprise... The Burning rule!!!!

Storm The Walls

Storm The Walls
(Massacre Records - 2007)

I don't know much about the this band... They are Danish and this is their debut. So let's see what they have to offer!
It opens up with a drum attack, deep tuned guitars and some growls.... They speed up and storm away, but then a break and they slow down again. The opener Underchievers Union is a death metal tune switching between thrashy attacks and doomy parts. Shouter Johnny Haven uses growls and grunts to vary a bit. A song called The Gospel might misdirect you... A fast, riff-based one which tends toward metalcore... Monolithic riffs and fast attacks they offer. Thrash parts meet doomy parts and groove. To get an idea check out Snakes Of Life, Ed Of All and Storm The Walls.
A more then decent debut of the Danish The Burning! Fans of Hatesphere, Total Devastation and Illdisposed should check them out, even if they don't fit 100% into your prey pattern. Chances are good you will like what you hear!
