Vol(l)ume 14

Vol(l)ume 14
(AFM Records - 2010)

Another album by Tankard........ Let the alcoholic madness (RE)begin!!! Geremia and his company of beer drinkers give to us another chapter of alcoholic thrash metal, this is what we want and Vol(l)ume 14 we get!!! Ten songs in pure Tankard style, ten songs of pure German thrash metal, ten songs of alcoholic fury. Another classic album for them, another album that the fans must buy, another album good for being appreciated by new fans. This is their 14th studio album, Tankard need respect and honor from fans worldwide, Sodom and Kreator are considered by everybody the leaders of this German movement, but I love to consider Tankard as a important part of this movement!!!!
Vol(l)ume 14 starts with Time Warp that contains an intro and later explode in a furious classic thrash song, Rules For Fools will remind to old episodes of Tankard themselves and Sodom. Fat Snatchers (Hippo Effect) is simply irresistible from the title!!!! Another example of Tankard sense of humor!!!! Black Plague (BP) follow the road of their thrash road in this album, another killer song that for someone can be a cliche but is perfect in album track list. Somewhere In Nowhere will make you mosh when you listen at it in the car, in your bedroom or anywhere you are!!! With The Agency finally Tankard take off thier right foot from the accelerator, Brain Piercing Of Death is another live killer song, made for create big moshpits!!!! Beck's In The City is simply irresistible, great thrash song, great song title (I luv their sense of humor) and non sense lyrics.... Condemnation give to us another opportunity to celebrate this near at non-stop-moshing album that ends with Weekend Warrior the longest song of this album, a piece of resistance for Tankard and of the highest point of this album!!!
At this point I can say only one thing : May the beer force be with you all!!! Long live Tankard!!!

Vol(l)ume 14

Vol(l)ume 14
(AFM Records - 2010)

The Frankfurt fun-loving beer drinkers Tankard and their leaner singer Gerre are presenting their 14th studio album at the end of 2010 which is called Vol(l)ume 14. Nobody expects Tankard to turn their back to thrash metal - and nobody wants to. Tankard have found their own niche in German thrash metal and after a few notes every Tankard fan will know, this is the new album of the cider-lovers. But the Germans managed to add something new to their sound and so the album sounds fresh. This time the sound is more like their live sound with sharp riffing. Gerre's vocals are more up-front and he adds some melodies and catchy hooks which are supported by the guitar leads. But still you'll get powerful thrash metal peppered up with a dash punk - the way you know Tankard. It's no news that Tankard deal with more serious topics and no longer present just drinking songs. With a stomping rhythm and a catchy refrain they present Black Plague (BP) where they make BP responsible for the environmental catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico. Don't worry, Tankard still present some fun songs like the thrashy opener Time Warp and the melodic Rules For Fools. Fat Snatchers is pure thrash metal and at Somewhere In Nowhere they sound a bit like Gang Green - which shows that Tankard like punk. The Agency is a typical Tankard tune, even if it has more melodic guitar lines. A homage to speed metal is Brain Piercing Öf Death and with Beck's In The City they have a thrashy hymn to shout along. And they have another Tankard hymn for you which is called Condemnation. Last, but not least they present a tribute to Metallica which is called Weekend Warriors where Gerre shows more then just shouts. All in all a good album which shows that even an old band like Tankard can sound fresh. Keep it up!

Kings Of Beer

Kings Of Beer
(Century Media - 2000)

The Germans still play thrash metal, they never changed within the 18 years of existing. Kings Of Beer is in their own tradition and offers 11 tracks of extreme music... What to say about the album? I never been a fan of the band, so I'm still have my problems with their sound, but I can recommend this album to all thrash fans who liked their old stuff and who are into bands like Destruction, Kreator and Sodom.
