(Escape Music - 2011)

Talon is a very experienced band who earlier had Chandler Mogel as singer, now he is with Outloud, and these days the Americans are fronted by Shawn Pelata and he can not fully live up to Mogels balanced voice in my opinion. On their 3rd album they have help by Jeff Scott Soto on the song Take You All The Way, but even this magic trick is running away through the fingers for them. Their music is generally too simple in way the songs are put together in a big lack of personality. Too much of it are mainstream rock with good technical guitar performance, but no so much more, and part of the damage comes from Shawn Pelata who is not able to spark some life into the songs. Did You Have To Say is based on a good metal rock basis rhythm and could save some of the impression. Maybe One Day have the right ideas for a good ballad and holds a tolerable level without falling through the net. You Don't Know Me At All also get some points in the good end of the scale for the great guitar ideas with melodic input and drive in the song. The rest of the material can not come in and save the albums capability to stay above water. Jeff Scott Soto should maybe have been involved even further in the production of the album, but I'm not sure how much it would have helped.
