(Tuba - 2004)

Susperia been founded by former Dimmu Borgir drummer Tjodalv and so many thought that they are just another black metal band from Norway. With their second album Vindication they seemed to have found their own identity, but what are they doing now? This is thrashy and mainly influenced by Testament, even if vocally there are parallels to Phil Anselmo (Pantera)... But they don't have the class of Testament, mainly it's the song writing and partly the guitar riffing. Some songs are even power metal which is in my opinion a negative aspect. A band like Susperia has to be heavy, brutal and in a way extreme. No cheesy power metal! Okay, Year's Of Decay is more Judas Priest-like - at times of Painkiller... But this isn't what I want! Vindication was a killer album, but this is a step down the ladder - at least for me.
