Hold The Static (EP)

Hold The Static (EP)
(self-released - 2018)

Surmiser is a band from upstate New York and they were founded in 2012. That's almost all I know about the band.

The new EP Hold The Static opens with ESF, heavy riffs and drums open up, then vocals join in. The guys mix punk, metal and grunge into an interesting sound. Jay Andersen's vocals are quite unique. For Mindreader they speed up, the punk influence gets more prominent. The song seems to be a little chaotic and the screams... give it something weird.... frantic.

The music is hard to describe, so check out Trains to get an idea what Surmiser are about:

The closer is called Believer. The drums and bass riff dominate this one, the vocals are a bit different... Rough screams.

The EP is about 12 minutes running time, and even if it's quite interesting to listen, I'm not sure, if I', ready for a full-length album.
