It All Ends Today

It All Ends Today
(Euphonious Rec. - 2000)

The Dutch band Stigmatheist was founded in 1994 and played the typical black / death metal of that period of time. about a year later a keyboarder joined the band. The music changed. Now the sextet plays a dark and very atmospheric black metal which is kind of the stuff Dimmu Borgir and Cradle Of Filth present. Singer Patrick gets a help of guitarist Ewald who is responsible for the genre typical screams. Patrick is more growling than screaming which fits very good to their music. The songs show a variety and the band found a good balance between fast (black metal) parts and more melodic (dark metal) sounds. this is the debut of the Dutch, but not their first release! In 1996 the band recorded a MCD Standing For Her Crave which was kind of a demo and sold more than 1,000 copies in Holland! I think they deserved the chance to present their music to the masses. With It All Ends Today the band built a strong basic to conquer the dark / black metal scene. Typically are the lyrics, untypical is the presentation of the band. Patrick and his mates are down-to-Earth and don't act evil or play live with the typical corpse paint. An unusual band from Holland. If Dimmu Borgir and Cradle Of Filth are not too commercial for you, try this one!
