Soul Doctor keep going and with Way Back To The Bone they release their 5th studio album and mark their 10th anniversary. Soul Doctor stick to their sound and spice up their classic, melodic hard rock with some new sound elements. They add some melodic 80's heavy rock to their mix, but this isn't doing the result any harm. The unique voice of Tommy Heart and the heavy riffing of guitarist Chris Lyne is impressing. The opener First Man On The Moon has the wild west flair of Bon Jovi, but the track is getting more depth. Next in line Lightning And Thunder is a catchy hard rock tune, but a real highlight is Can't Stand Losing and it's Tommy Heart's voice which is giving you goose bumps. He's better then ever! Same can be said about the ballad Times Of Yesterday which is quite emotional. It gets bluesy with Love Crashed Down (Boom Down!) and the opening guitar part lacks nothing and can't keep up with the big hard rock acts. Another emotional tune is Here Comes The Night while Heartache Heartbreak is based on some beautiful keyboard passages. You will find a Hammond organ at Take It While It's Hot and Coming Home has a touch of Gotthard - great one. One can say that Soul Doctor stick to their guns, but this time offer varying vocals which make the songs sound more vivid, but the icing on the cake are the guitar riffs! Melodic hard rock can't be defined completely new, but Soul Doctor present it on a high level. And this they are doing for 10 years now - and this album you shouldn't miss, if you are into hard rock!
