Shadow is melodic death metal from Japan. Not many bands from Japan are known outside the Islands of Japan, expect Loudness, Anthem and now Double Dealer. Japan doesn't seem to be a country of death metal...
Actually Shadow sound like a Swedish death metal band with some Floridian influences. Musically the band is really good, their melodic death metal offers great guitar lines. The vocals are extreme and if the bio wouldn't say it, I would never ever believe that this is a girl on the mic! Tokiko Shimamoto is better than some male colleagues from other bands...
A good piece of music, but they haven't found their own identity yet. With adding Japanese influences would have give them a special touch.
Check out Lunar Eclipse or Breath Of Awakening. The next album will show if the Japanese quintet will have a chance to find their place among the large number of death metal bands.
