Sacrifice
(Lion Music - 2010)

Section A is presenting Sacrifice four years after the release of Parallel Lives. Guitarist and keyboarder Torben Enevoldsen and singer Andy Engberg are now joined by Thomas Heintzelmann on drums. They are more straight forward, more metal now, but you will still find some progressive elements.
They kick off with the title track Sacrifice, a fast, guitar-driven metal tune. In a way this track shows the way of the album, but even if there aren't any surprises, it's very entertaining. The music was written by Mr. Enevoldsen who also produced and mixed the album - and played guitars, bass and keyboard on the album. Andy Engberg's powerful voice and his unique style make Section A differ from similar acts. Songs like Room With A View and Heroes will give you an idea about Section A in 2010. At the fast Land Of The Desert Sun Circus Maximus' Lasse Finbråten plays the keyboard solos. Fast double bass drumming and heavy riffs builds the basis for this one, partly dark and almost threatening, it also offers melodic passages which have an epic touch. While Heroes is a heavy rocker, but also offers some short neo-classical guitar parts. Songs like Danger have are based on 80's hard rock, but presented in a heavier and more modern way. The City Is Falling is another guitar-driven rocker which gets ennobled by Andy Engberg's expressive vocals - and for me one of the highlights.
If you look for something real progressive, then you won't find it here, but if you look for powerful and melodic metal songs with a progressive edge, the this is it!
