By The Hands Of The Devil
(Moribund Cult Records - 2011)

This is a period very busy for the 'Tyrant' Harry Conklin, after the new Jag Panzer album now it's time for the new Satan's Host CD... Really a workaholic!!! It's always a big pleasure to hear Tyrant's voice in every occasion, and also this new Satan's Host By The Hands Of The Devil is really a good performance of the Colorado singer, here is where is possible to hear not only his epic and powerful side, but also a dirt and evil side that come out with these proto black metal songs. Right because Satan's Host play black metal, and hear the Tyrant in this kind of music can be interesting.... but anyway let's start to write about this album!!

By The Hands Of The Devil starts with the title track, where the musical coordination could be written by Immortal, but the Tyrant's voice is the difference..... Simply a devastating black metal songs singed by an extraordinary guy!!! Shades Of The Unlight start with a dark intro, and after you'll be into another great Satan's Host song where rage and power give you a big head bang!! Demontia is a killer mid tempo simply perfect for their live shows with his chorus made for the crowd...... Before The Flame is another perfect example of old school black metal, with a perfect bridge / solo. Bleeding Hearts Of The Damned is a slow / dark song that prepares the next Black Hilted Knife, a killer black metal track where is possible to hear how many changes and tone owns the Tyrant's voice!!!! Revival is another fast black track, and in my opinion is one of the worst songs of this record. Fallen Angel is another killer song with melodies and harmonies inside and the follower Inferior Worlds drive us once again into madness and rage, the world of Satan's Host!!! At the end of this album there's a cover song of the classic Beatles tune Norwegian Wood in a black metal version, not so good in my opinion...

At the end of this CD we can say that there are a lot positive things in here and come on, horns up for Satan's Host and their new By The Hands Of The Devil because they deserve your help people!!!!!!

A project that was started by Harry Conklin, known from Jag Panzer, saw the light already in 1977, but the band disbanded again after a few years due to internal disagreements. Conklin focused on his solo career, and Satan's Host was more or less a on-and-off band which he used his free time for.

Now they release a new CD with a pot of heavy metal songs. Shades Of The Unlight has a good stable level with aggressive vocals from Harry Conklin, Revival gives a good impression with hard pressure and has a basically fine quality especially the drums are convincing. The top spot of this album is Fallen Angel, where the song is inspired by Ronnie James Dio and the result is very captivating, that song is alone a good reason to listen to this new release. A funny story is ending the album: Norwegian Wood, a song originally made by The Beatles in 1965, but in this version is gets soaked in with speedy guitars and it gets a modern touch that makes you smile in admiration.
