Naked Thoughts From A Silent Chaos

Naked Thoughts From A Silent Chaos
(Lion Music - 2010)

Venturia guitarist Charly Sahona decided to do a solo album - with the help of his band mates Thomas and Diego for the recordings. Naked Thoughts From A Silent Chaos is his first solo album and is more song-based then showing off skills - like some might expect.
The opener is called Relieved, a heavy progressive tune with a catchy vocal line. Imagine Symphony X meets Muse, that will give you an idea... Songs like Raise The Shadow and River Of Lies are complex, but also have an airiness... Sure, the guys demonstrate craftsmanship, but the instrumental passages never get too lengthy and Sahona's vocals are enchanting. It's the contrast between the complexity of the music and the lightness of the vocals which are fascinating. At Forgotten Past the keyboard gives the song a different sound, something Charly Sahona surprised me with. For Living In A Dream Is Not Right Mon. Sahona slows down a bit, a balladesque tune. The closer is called All That Can't Be Said and shows again heavy riffs, complex parts and catchy vocals.
Charly Sahona presents a good solo album which is quite entertaining, can surprise you and shows his talent without adding tiring solos. This album isn't just interesting for prog metal fans, open-minded metal fans should check out Charly Sahona at his MySpace!
