Manipulated Mind

Manipulated Mind
(Dockyard 1 - 2008)

The French band No Return is around for almost 2 decades and with Manipulated Mind they present their 8th album. The French quintet kicks off with the title track, a heavy groove monster. I really like the instrumental part which leads you into the song, but as soon as singer Moreno Grosso joins in they speed up and thrash the place - and it gets mediocre. During the first track their weak spot shows and it's Moreno Grosso, he limits the band. Beside that I think that the blasting riffs are nothing special and that the more technical parts are way better. With Puzzle Of Life they storm off again. And again the instrumental parts are more convincing. When they kick off slowly The Right Course it was like a spark of hope, but soon they destroy the positive image... A pity!
No Return show a blend of technical metal with thrashy riffs and monotonous vocals. Some of the instrumental parts have a slight progressive touch, but when they go for the thrash riffs, they start sounding average. I can't really comment a track, in my opinion if doesn't matter which one you pick... Perhaps Take Me Beyond gives you an idea... Sorry guys!
