Living But Not Exist

Living But Not Exist
(Universal Music - 2010)

It's not every day you listen to rock music from Ukraine, but here is the debut album from the band Monolit. All songs are in Russian language from the band that was founded in 2004. They have a big name already in Ukraine, and this new CD called Living But Not Exist is very interesting with both hard guitars from Merlin and Fate and they have some very symphonic passages in their music. Monolit is centered around the singer Konstantin Gordiychuk, and he uses energetic screams to set the tempo and structure of the compositions. The line of songs is in a East European style, but with their eyes opened to the West. There is a little bit inspiration from Scorpions, but very difficult when everything is in Russian. If they could make a CD in English they would absolutely have a chance for a breakthrough.
