Paying Tribute

Paying Tribute
(Collectors Dream Records - 2013)

Collectors Dream Records is releasing Paying Tribute, it more or less Molly Hatchet's Regrinding The Axes album, shortened and in a different order, but also has a few other covers. So, if you already have that one, you might not be interested in this one... But every other fan of Southern rock should check it out!

ZZ Top's hit Sharp Dressed Man sounds pretty good in the Southern rock version of Molly Hatchet. Personally I love the Eagles cover Desperado, a very emotional tune which now is a bit heavier than the original. Actually I like the slow, balladesque tunes like Desperado, Tequila Sunrise and Melissa, but everybody will have favorites - it's just a matter of taste. From the rockers I like their interpretation of Tumbling Dice by the Rolling Stones. The last 3 tracks are live versions, please check the track listing.

I guess fans of Molly Hatchet have hoped for something new, but it's fun.

Track listing:

1. Sharp Dressed Man (ZZ Top cover)
2. The Boys Are Back in Town (Thin Lizzy cover)
3. Desperado (The Eagles cover)
4. Bad to the Bone (George Thorogood cover)
5. Dreams I'll Never See (The Allman Brothers Band cover)
6. Melissa (The Allman Brothers Band cover)
7. Mississippi Queen (Mountain cover)
8. Tequila Sunrise (The Eagles cover)
9. Tumbling Dice (Rolling Stones cover)
10. Wild Horses (Rolling Stones cover)
Bonus tracks
11. Whiskey Man (live)
12. Beatin the Odds (live)

25th Anniversay

25th Anniversary - Best Of Re-recorded
(Steamhammer - 2003)

Together with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers and Blackfoot are Molly Hatchet the trademarks of Southern Rock. The band of mainman Bobby Ingram is around for the quarter of a century, a good idea to do a best of album for younger fans of this genre and to re-record old classics with a better and more powerful production. And so they recorded more then a dozen songs incl. Flirtin' With Desaster, Bounty Hunter, Beatin' The Odds, Boogie No More, Dreams I'll Never Seen, Fall Of The Peacemakers, Whiskey Man, Bloody Reunion and Satisfied Man. The track 25th Anniversary Song is an intro for the piano-based medley of Epitaph, Memories and The Great Beyond. On the disc are 75 minutes of Southern Rock. Not necessary to go into details, coz fans of boogie rock and Southern rock will at least know some of the songs. Enjoy this album!
