Funerals From The Astral Sphere

Funerals From The Astral Sphere
(I Voidhanger Recordings - 2011)

The second album from Dis Pater and his one-man band called Midnight Odyssey is called Funerals From The Astral Sphere. It's a double CD where he put his musical thoughts to into some very special music. Unfortunately it is not with the best result as most of the 16 songs are boring and noisy. Some of it is also with a bad recording quality. The only song that survives the threat of drowning is Funerals From The Astral Sphere were it gets more symphonic and has good black metal ideas included, screaming and powerful. An Ode To Dying Spirits is soft glimpses of the guitar and genuine vocal work in the right atmosphere for odes. Lost is the song that brings deep very simple black metal but with a twist of interesting songwriting, but maybe too special to attract the greater amount of fans. Those Who Linger At Night has the atmospheric soft sound of black metal, that Dis Pater can do, but shows too little of it. An album that sinks into the black world of repeating the ideas again and again, not giving new input or freshness to the music.
