Hannes Braun - December 1sr 2011 (by email)

Five schoolmates decides to make a band, teenagers, brothers Hannes and Alde in front of the gang. Heard that before? But Kissin' Dynamite is the most talented and bright group in Germany right now, so what would be more natural than to hear their plans, especially as they release a new album in March 2012. Hannes Braun answers our questions.

Please tell us about the beginning of the band? And why did you choose the name Kissin' Dynamite?

It all started as a metal cover band of five school friends. :D We shared the dream to play on the biggest stages worldwide and we still keep on dreaming! So we started writing own songs et voilá, we got a deal with a record label!
Andi's phone rang in a rehearsal and his ring tone was Kissin Dynamite from AC/DC, so we had it!

When did you start writing songs for Addicted To Metal?

In early 2009.

Do you write songs as a band? Or is there a main songwriter?

We do all separate things to write a song. Me and the producers are looking for melodies and harmonies and the guitarists create riffs and solos. Andi, the drummer, writes the lyrics!

What inspires you to write music/lyrics?

It is the feeling that you can escape from all the everyday's life shit, what inspires me to write. Our songs just have one message: FUN!

By the way: what bands / artists made you start playing? And which bands / artists are you listening to these days?

Oh it all started with AC/DC of course, but also bands like Mötley Crüe, Skid Row or Kiss inspired us to play! And we still listen to these bands. :)

How long did the recording take? Where did you record Addicted To Metal? Who produced the album?

Over one year coz we wanted to do it perfectly! We produced it in Flensburg with Elephant Music.

Who did the artwork? And how is it tied to the album title?

It was Martin Häussler who created it. It is tied to the anvil in Addicted To Metal that brings danger! (That's why we're running away from the hammer on the cover.)

Hannes, who is your inspiration to make this scene show you do? I specifically think about the way you make eye contact with the crowd, that is very effective....

I have many idols when it comes to the entertainer thing. I love the way Bruce Dickinson makes the people freak out with just his appearance and his energetic show! Or others to name: Axl Rose, Sebastian Bach.

Do you have time for all this touring and recording when you are as young as you are? This is the age where you normally decide what you want to do with your life. And your choice seems to be that you are Addicted To Metal...

Yeah, I'm definitely into metal and I simply wanna do it till I fall into the casket! That's why it would never be too much for me!

Which songs do you think represent Addicted To Metal best? And why?

Of course the title track, Love Me Hate Me, and In The Name Of The Iron Fist!
Honestly I don't know why.. Maybe because it feels like freaking out listening to it... ;)

I guess you already got some feedback. Are you satisfied so far?

Yeah I'm very glad about all the reactions and the success so far, but as you might know: WE WANT MORE! Haha

What about playing live? Have you any new plans there?

Yes, we will go on tour in spring when the new album comes out!

Talking about the internet.... Social network is both a blessing and a curse. What's your opinion about it?

Hmm, I think complaining about illegal downloads is wasted time! Better use it for create new ways to make the internet more efficient for music! Social network is perfect for promoting yourself without any money, so, I think this a blessing. ;)

What's next on your schedule? Anything you want to add?

Releasing the new album in March and then go on tour! I'm excited...!
