Welcome To The Crossroads

Welcome To The Crossroads
(Verycords - 2012)

Australian band Koritni was founded 2006 and Welcome To The Crossroads is their 3rd album - with the same line-up! They choose to work with the same mixer / producer as they did on their debut. That's the facts.

They kick off with Down At The Crossroads where a sleazy guitar leads you into the album. It's a heavy, but sleazy rocker and Lex Koritni's vocals remind me of someone... Ray West (Spread Eagle), at least partly. Anyway, the opener is a good choice to hook up the listener. The stomping Better Off Dead (feat. Rusty brown off Electric Mary) is spiced up with a passage which seems to be taken from radio... With Party's Over they ease off a little but it's still a powerful rocker. This time some spoken words add a different flavor. It seems someone's zapping channels... That's Now A Word From Our Sponsor's, an interlude. Guitar leads you into TV's Just A Medium, an up-tempo track with 80's like backings which features Jeff Waters (Annihilator) on guitar. The opening passage of Lost For Words, a bit more balladesque than the predecessors, hooks me up immediately. Somehow this tune make me think of Tyketto... a sleazy version of the Jerseyans. At Sometimes they also remind me of Danny Vaughn and his mates - and that's no problem for me, coz I dig Tyketto. A heavy rocker is Money Talks, It Says Goodbye and it for a moment has an AC/DC touch, but then becomes another sleazy rocker. With Hold On they present a power ballad before they close this chapter with Take It Like A Man, another 80's-like rocker.

If you like sleaze metal, 80's hard rock and a powerful voice, then check out Koritni's new album Welcome To The Crossroads!

Game Of Fools

Game Of Fools
(Metal Heaven - 2009)

Lex Koritni founded Koritni in 2006, arising from the ashes of Green Dollar Colour. The Australians supported the Scorpions in Belgium and France and they received good critics for their debut Lady Luck. Now the quintet is back with Game Of Fools.

The fivesome kicks off with 155 into a heavy rock album. There are a few similarities to their fellow countrymen AC/DC, but there are also differences! Singer Lex Koritni sounds to me like a mix of Danny Vaughn and Steven Taylor... But it doesn't matter, he's doing very good. And their heavy rock carries a positive vibe, they make you move and soon you start humming / singing along. The stomping Deranged reminds me a bit of Tyketto, but in a pub rock kinda way. Songs like Stab In The Back and the catchy By My Side are pure fun. Another highlight is The Devil's Daughter, a partly balladesque rocker with a catchy hook. Okay, the songs sound familiar, but damn it, just enjoy listening to Game Of Fools!
