Closing A Circle

Closing A Circle
(Eisenwald Records - 2011)

This is a strange black metal album, the debut album from German band Isolation. They probably wanted to give a new sound to black metal and the result is 10 songs of melodic work but yet boring and with a vocal line that is so withdrawn that many black metal fans would not believe what they are hearing. The bad part is that the boredom is overwhelming, nothing aggressive is coming so the general impression is a very bad vocal performance can over cloud the metal aspects of soft and slow meaningless songs. The good thing is that there is a lot of good music present especially on Never Enough and Nomad, and Fan The Flames has a prescription of melodic aggressive metal style to compensate the sad and forgettable songs on Isolations project CD. As a debut release there should have been more steady and qualified material, but nevertheless is deserves the mark 7 for the new ideas they boldly launch in the black metal world.
