A Sigil Burnt Deep Into The Flesh

A Sigil Burnt Deep Into The Flesh
(Debemur Morti Productions - 2009)

The French band Helel - Hebrew for Lucifer, the fallen angel - release their debut EP on the French label Debemur Morti. The music of Helel is a wild mix of extreme industrial and mangy black metal which they combine into a brutal sonic inferno which steam rolls the listener. The programmed drums assault you and support the inhuman blast attacks and head into raw black metal. Partly they slow down and offer driving mid-paced passages and even add some orchestral parts which somehow sound sick and chaotic. It ain't easy to follow them as the songs are quite long, but due to the extreme mix of industrial and black metal it's fascinating. Nothing you hear too often... And no easy listening. Helel's music is bulky. Somehow they are exotic with their musical mix, something you rarely get offered. Attention, hear at your own risk!
