Tranz-Fused

Tranz-Fused
(Lion Music - 2010)

With the opening sequence of Seizure Salad I was already wondering, if I'm the right person to review it as I'm not into instrumental music. Guitarist Michael Harris offers an album full of fusion rock and so it's no easy listening. The album asks for your full attention! This time Mr. Harris worked with a bunch of guys playing bass and drums. Additionally Bernard Wright is doing a keyboard solo at the opener. Some parts at Wizard Of Odd remind me slightly of ELP... If you expect some kind of metal sounds from the Thought Chamber / Darkology guitarist, then Tranz-Fused will disappoint you. At Blue Shift it's more the atmosphere Harris creates then showing off technical play. Not really lounge music, but close to it. Other tracks have a slight funky touch while some passages might remind you of Joe Satriani. A bit funky it gets at Professor Grunklesplat's Math Assignment - and again I wonder how some musicians come up with song titles for their instrumentals.
Fans of instrumental albums who like some fusion rock should check out Tranz-Fused. If you know Michael Harris just for his work with Thought Chamber or Darkology than check out Ocean Blues and Rocket Surgery to get an idea about this album.
