Dear people!
Here´s the official statement about the transformation from DEATH FEAST into EXTREMEFEST... here we go:
DEATH FEAST has constantly been growing over the past few years, but most people don´t know that after our party there every year, I had to always shoulder a little more debts, every year. Imagine you going to work every day for an entire year and finally at pay day, your boss demands that you paying a few thousand Euros instead of the other way round... It ain´t that funny over the years, believe me.
One can withstand that with idealism and love for Death Metal for a while, but at one point it is simply not do-able anymore. People implying the transformation has been a decision out of greed, should actually think about how much bands, logistics, manpower and so on do cost. It´s a fact that a Death Metal/Grindcore festival without any sort of financial sponsorship or subventions can´t be financed these days on a high level like DEATH FEAST. Money´s tight all over, particularly in this extreme genre so it was time to change something.
The EXTREMEFEST is a perfect platform for extreme bands, with its focus on DEATH and GRIND. There´ll be a stage in the party tent which will mostly serve the underground scene so there´ll be a total of 70 bands playing at EXTREMEFEST - bands that should please everyone´s taste.
Surely, some of you won´t like this or that band but let´s be honest, nobody really watches all the bands at a festival and I think we´ll all live with a few bands not to your liking.
I am very sure that in cooperation with Catapult Promotion and our Swiss colleagues we´re able to offer you some real killer bands since all costs like advertising, flights and other expenses can now be shared between all participating partners.
We don´t take anything away from you but we´re trying to still make sure you guys having a great time. And the legendary infamous after show partys at the party tent will remain, also the area and the crew are identical to the Death Feast´s set up.
I´ve been accused of sell-out, betrayal and what-not, but I don´t think that after all these years of lots of effort from my side that´s the least bit justified.
Those who still think they have to boycott the festival after this very statement, well it´s of course up to you, nobody forces anyone onto anything.
Everybody else who do understand the reasons of the changes which had to be made: I´ll see you in July 2012!
