Flesh

Flesh
(Mascot Records - 2002)

Some bands need years to do a follow-up, not Everon. Just in summer 2002 they released the high class album Bridge and the band don't give their fans a long break! And now Flesh is in the stores! Not brand-new material, it's more what was left over from the creative song writing process of Bridge. The band wanted to release the material which was too good to end up in the trash can. Should they use them on compilations? Or as bonus tracks on singles? No, they decided to release another great album in 2002! So they present another 8 tracks with a running time from more then 60 minutes. Very melodic and on a high quality level they presented the 'first part' last summer and now the 'second part' is in the stores to warm the hearts of their fans while the winter is bringing the cold. Everybody who likes Bridge will also like Flesh and who don't know the first one, go and buy both!  ;-)
Seriously, it's fun to listen to the quartet who presents well arranged music with harmony and rock elements. Good melodies for a certain catchiness.... Be careful or Everon will enchant you...

Bridge

Bridge
(Mascot Records - 2002)

Wow, this CD is a welcome surprise, if you listen to it unbiased. If you get the current releases of known bands, you have some expectations. It was different with Everon, coz I haven't heard anything about this release before and so my first impression was when I listened to them the first time.
That's very unusual for a band which is existing for almost 10 years. Anyway, Everon convinced me when I listened to them for the first time and this impression get strengthen with every spin. With the dozen tracks - partly instrumental - they offer a large variety and proof their abilities. The very talented singer Oliver Philipps (also playing guitar, keyboards re. Piano) with his voice which gives the music a touch of a musical and drummer Christian Moos who's drum beats keep them going. Guitarist Ulli Hoever and bassist Schymy complete the line-up. Originally the band is from the progressive metal genre, but these days they are beyond high complex structures. Catchy melodies and harmonic sounds carries you into fantasy worlds. The cover artwork fits to that concept and is done by an awarded Australian artist. I'm not surprised that the critics are more and more convinced by the releases of Everon.
Cool is that they have a note in the booklet which states that some parts are taken from Billy Joel and where they offer him to take parts from the Everon material - this shows that they don't lack any self-confidence.
At all this is about an hour of high class music which is a pleasure to hear even after several spins. My recommendation for the summer 2002.
Unfortunately the band has almost no time to play live, coz they are too busy doing productions in their own studio. So they concentrate on festival appearances and so I can just recommend to see them at the ProgPower festival in the Netherlands this fall.
