Requiem

Requiem
(self-released - 2005)

Eärendil are a septet from San Salvador, the El Salvadorian capital. Musically they are based in symphonic metal, but they weave in some other sounds. The intro Barad Dur leads you into the 3-track single. This it their second demo - as far as I know. Dragon Négro is re-recorded and shows them with fast riffing and different vocal styles. There is Itzel Huezo who sings mezzo soprano, tenor Nelson Huezo and keyboardist Balmore Rivera who also adds some vocals, I think he adds the growls... The guitar work of Francisco de Leon and Frank Oreliana is influenced by neo-classical metal. At the end some folk-influenced part leads out of the song. With Requiem they show first some classic influenced keyboard part - sounds like a spinet -, but then speed up with heavy riffs and the 'beauty and the beast' vocal part. Then they cross the boarder to melodic black metal for a moment. They don't really fit into a genre... They combine several styles and create something new, sure the different parts might remind you of different bands, but not too band. And this is only a demo, so it depends on which way they will go in future.
