Horns Of The Wasted
(Hell's Headbangers - 2010)

Whilst looking for information about this band I came across a review of their debut album, Posercrusher, stating that it was an enjoyable album but that you shouldn't expect high art. Right, with a band name like Drünken Bastards I was hardly expecting the metal equivalent of Ludwig Van Beethoven! So what are these mad Hungarians about then? Well, from the cover-art this is very reminiscent of tongue-in-cheek beer-fueled thrash and the intro, Nuclear Era, does nothing to dispel this view, being a comedy introduction to the world of Drünken Bastards.
Musically the band fuse elements of thrash, black metal and punk to create their violent hymns to booze, broads and Beelzebub (my apologies to Chrome Division...). I wouldn't say the quintet were the greatest musicians I've ever heard but they're certainly proficient enough to play this dirty, high-speed, metalized punk and what they lack in skill they make up for in sheer attitude!
The production is raw but not unlistenably so. It sound like good thrash should! This is not a long album either, clocking in at just over 19 minutes which, in all honesty, is ridiculous for a full-length but is about right for this style of music. Much longer and it would just be tedious!
One I'd recommend to fans of Tankard, old Kreator and Venom. Grab a crate, kick back and enjoy!
