Invisible Wires

Invisible Wires
(self-released - 2007)

Distant Light are coming from the Latvian capital Riga and they started back in 2001. That's almost everything I know about the Latvian quintet.
They open up with Under The Veil and present a mid-paced progressive power metal tune with the strong vocals of Sasha Redko - his phrasing reminds me here a bit of Andy Engberg (ex-Lions Share)... But even if they have complex elements they focus on sharp riffing and catchy melodies. And with twists and turns they keep the listeners interest during this more then 7 minute long track. They speed up for Clash Of The Kings, but even if this one is faster it has some mid-tempo parts. Its combines melodic speed metal with neo-classical parts - and a catchy refrain. And again the five-some can surprise the listener with Calling The Rain where they push to the limits - and don't accept any limitations. And that can be said about the 2 other tracks as well - Fangs Of Time and The Higher You Fly.
The guys really surprised me and I can't believe that they haven't signed the dotted line yet!
