Land Of Darkness

Land Of Darkness
(B.O. Records - 2000)

Okay, I could ask you to put the titles into the right order.... That would be a kind of active listening!
Anyway, back to what's important! Black Abyss are from Germany and been quite active in the German underground scene. Land Of Darkness is their second album and still their main influence is Blind Guardian, even if you can't compare them with the Krefeld-based band. There are many obvious influences from the 80's metal, too. Songs like Eye Of The Storm, Chainbreaker and Burning Bridges stick. You will remember them. Chainbreaker has some evident reminiscences to Pretty Maids and Brainstorm - or shall I say they copied them? Beside that there is a cover version of The Trooper and to be honest, I don't know why they chose that song. There are more then enough cover versions of this one. I hope next time they show us a more unique sound!
