Guardian At The Gate

Guardian At The Gate
(Pure Steel Records - 2011)

It would be fair to say Arctic Flame is a band who mixes 80's metal with today's metal and fulfil the picture with inspirations from Irish folk music, folk metal. Very interesting sound that goes as a guideline through the whole album. Not that they have been superactive in their career, this is their 3rd album in 11 years, but having recently introduced their new vocalist Michael Clayton Moore it is good to have a statement of where the band is right now. My Little Slice Of Hell have this traditional hard metal rock where their good musical ideas really shines through, for example a double rhythm section gives the song an interesting ankle to the album. Guardian At The Gate spends vide as they round epic rock with good and complex melodic folk metal where especially the guitar work is of very high quality. Raise Your Glasses oozes of mid-tempo metal with touches of Irish music like Thin Lizzy or Mamas Boys. The Creeper has a humoristic side to add to the total picture, a song where the slow metal rock are proving that they have made a scoop in bringing in their new singer Michael Clayton Moore.
