Harlequins Of Light

Harlequins Of Light
(Frontiers Records - 2013)

Jeff Cannata and Michael Soldan released a self-titled album under the moniker Arc Angel in 1983 as it wasn't a commercial success Cannata continued as a solo artist. In 2002 another Arc Angel album saw the light of day and now Mr. Cannata is back with Arc Angel and an album called Harlequins Of Light.

They kick off with the title track, slightly prog-ish melodic rock tune. With As Far As The Eye Can See Arc Angel offer a track which could have been off an Asia album - but I love Asia, so I won't complain. Voice Of Illuminati has a bombastic edge, it needs a few spins to grow. A melancholy touch had Through The Night while California Daze has a light touch and is perfect for cruising down California State Route 1. The closer is Legend Of The Mary Celeste which starts like an audio book, but then the music starts and Jeff Cannata tells the story of the Mary Celeste.
