Unity

Unity
(Century Media - 2001)

The Swiss band was founded in 1987 and started recording way before the Scandinavian black metal scene got big and noticed outside their Nordic world. The first 2 albums been extreme and in the mid 90's their musical style changed to dark metal which still includes black metal elements. War D. is the only original member and on Unity he presents Alastis with four new band members. Unity is the consequent follow-up of Revenge. The quintet stick to the "...punchy midpaced guitar riffs, gloomy groove in striking harmonies, majestic and thoroughly dense keyboard atmosphere as well as their extremely overall catchiness sound fresher than ever before..." to quote the biography.
Check out: The Right To Die, The Sign, Who Created The Gods? and Antidote.

Attention dark metalheads! The Swiss band Alastis has now - after several line-up changes - recorded the follow-up of their debut Revenge. On Unity the Swiss present a thick sound foundation, slow and doomy with orchestral keyboard parts. Above this sound floor lays the hateful voice of mastermind War D. which is cauterize your eardrum! Their sound is a little bit like the sound of Samael and Tiamat (at the days of The Astral Sleep) and rouse emotions with songs like The Right To Die or the more melodic Who Create The Gods? And Ghastly Fancies.
An album which should be part of every dark metal collection, even if there isn't a killer song, but that's just my opinion.
