The Invalid
(Nightmare Records - 2011)

Clandestine is a female-fronted metal band which was founded in 2006. They won a competition of L.A. Magazine which made them 'the best female-fronted band'. They managed to convince producer Sylvia Massey to mix the album, to make the songs shine.

They kick off with Fearless, a complex tune with synthesizer, heavy riffs and June Park's unique vocals. Fearless is a modern progressive metal tune, but not an easy way to get into the album. Disappear In You is a sonic roller coaster ride! First it seems that they will present a metalcore tune, then a break and the tune becomes a melodic, slightly progressive alternative metal tune. But see yourself!

Slowly Silent Sin kicks off, then they speed up and offer a catchy alternative rocker - with a progressive touch. Like a mix of Evanescence and some prog metal band. The following track Philistine is crossing the boarder to metalcore! The journey continues with the lounge jazz-like Pretend. At least it starts that way, but when Clandestine speed up a bit they remind of a bit of Lacuna Coil. Dead To The World is a modern metal song with progressive elements, synthesizer sequences and great vocals. Then they take you back into a lounge with Phantom Pain. An emotional track with cool, jazzy vocals. Later they speed up and it becomes a modern metal tune based on heavy guitars and complex drum patterns. The title track is heavy, modern and spiced up with growls! The closer is Comatose, but you won't fall into a coma!

By now it's obvious that Clandestine combine different sounds, crossing boarders and so create something unique. This isn't musical fast-food! This album demands your attention! Due to the musical variety it never gets boring, but you have to be open-minded to enjoy Clandestine!
