With Rise Of The Tyrant Arch Enemy deliver another masterpiece! With Rise Of The Tyrant are presenting the follow-up of Doomsday Machine and they stay in their tracks. They are on their way to conquer!

The band of Michael Amott and singer Angela Gossow is a bit more melodic then on the predecessor. This album kicks ass! Rise Of The Tyrant is one of the few album which put me under a spell. There are catchy hooks, killer riffs, melodic riffs, blasting beats and perfect growls!

As mentioned in the interview with Sharlee, I can just say it again, the opener Blood On Your Hands is catchy and on the same level as Nemesis and We Will Rise. Vultures is the best song in my opinion, but The Last Enemy, I Will Live Again and Rise Of The Tyrant aren't bad... Actually they are real tune wedgies! Very well done is the instrumental Intermezzo Liberté.

A killer album which should satisfy every fan of this genre. This album will make it, no doubt! A milestone!

Doomsday Machine

The last album of the Swedish-German band was already excellent death metal and got high ratings. Will Mike Amott and his mates be able to top Anthems Of Rebellion? Well, Doomsday Machine is another brilliant output, but takes longer to get into it. Technically they are already premier league. So nothing to complain. Most songs are mid-tempo and offer a dark, melancholy atmosphere. Depressive. Dreadful. On Anthems Of Rebellion several songs could be called catchy and sneaked into the listeners ear easily. On Doomsday Machine only 2 songs are qualified for that - Nemesis and I Am Legend / Out For Blood. Another highlight is the title track Doomsday Machine, but as most of the other songs this one takes time to grow. So, give it a few more spins and you'll dicover the quality of this album. It demands your full attention, but still needs a few spins, so be patient. This one is worth spending time! As soon as it enthralled you, it'll be one of the top releases of the year. At least it made it into my top 10 albums of 2005!

Every melodic death metal fan should give it a try and listen to this album. Not a masterpiece, but above average!
